The 15-minute test I run on every list before a campaign goes out. 20 contacts, 5 checks, one score.
Take them from the list you're about to send to, spread across the whole list. Don't use the first 20 rows: lists are often sorted, and the top is usually the cleanest part.
A contact fails if it misses any one of these.
Each contact counts once, even if it fails more than one check.
Your list is healthy. Send it.
Clean it before you send, or expect bounces and wasted touches.
Don't send yet. At this rate you risk your domain's reputation.
Catch-all or unknown emails aren't bad, just unconfirmed. If more than 5 of your 20 are catch-all or unknown, send those in a smaller, separate batch so a bounce spike can't hurt your main campaign.
These bands are rules of thumb from 15 years of list work.
Send me the same 20 contacts and I'll check every one by hand, free, within 24 hours. You'll get the fail rate and what's causing it before your next campaign goes out.
